England Vs Denmark World Cup

Womens World Cup 2023: England Beat Denmark To Take Charge Of Group D

Lauren James's early strike secured a 1-0 win for the Lionesses

England's win over Denmark leaves them top of Group D after two games

European champions England moved a step closer to the knockout stages of the Women's World Cup with a crucial 1-0 win over Denmark in Sydney on Monday morning.

A fine early strike from Lauren James gave England the lead and they were able to hold out for a vital victory, despite some late pressure from the Danes. It was a repeat of the semi-final at the European Championship last summer, when England won 2-1 after extra-time.

England have now won their opening two games in Group D, and will qualify for the last 16 if they avoid a heavy defeat to Australia in their final group game on Thursday. Denmark, who lost their opening game to Spain, must now beat China and hope other results go their way if they are to have any chance of reaching the knockout stages
